MENTAL HEALTH IN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY FORUM
RECOVERY AND RESILIENCE
26 FEBRUARY 2010
THE FORUM IS FAST APPROACHING, WITH ONLY 3 WEEKS TO GO!
We are really excited about having two well known advocates for recovery oriented practice as our keynote presenters, Ms Mary O’Hagan and Ms Kath Thorburn. We are also really excited to have almost 30 Occupational Therapists presenting in one form or another on their own practice or research that promotes recovery and resilience for mental health consumers. Some of the topics include: managing a recovery-oriented service, promoting hope and recovery across the mental health service, occupational therapy at the interface of psychiatry and the law, self advocacy, historical and contemporary issues in Indigenous mental health, community development and partnerships in mental health, tracking the recovery pathway, mindfulness in practice, physical and mental health, recovery planning, the use of YouTube as a support and recovery tool, the effects of a comfort room on an acute mental health unit, and changes to Medicare items under the Better Access Initiative.
For the first time in the forum’s history we have allocated time for “activities for resilience”, where delegates have the opportunity to experience first hand a variety of fun self-care activities such as mindfulness exercises, yoga, tai chi, opera singing and Bollywood dancing! Our delegate’s bags are overflowing with pampering gifts, and last but not least, our forum would not be complete without a little socialising afterwards at the Paradise Pool Party!
The day is sure to be full of information, inspiration, interaction and inclusion!
