“A Mentally Healthy Future for all Australians”
The National Advisory Council on Mental Health (NACMH) has produced a discussion paper, “A Mentally Healthy Future for all Australians” and Occupational Therapists working in mental health are requested to comment.
The NACMH was established as an election commitment of the Rudd Labor Government as a formal mechanism for the Australian Government to gain independent advice from a wide range of experts to inform national mental health reform efforts.
This discussion paper has been prepared for the consideration of Government in the context of the various health reform reports released in the past six months. It will also contribute to the mental health reform directions being progressed under the National Mental Health Policy (Policy) and the Fourth National Mental Health Plan (Fourth Plan) and will be useful in assisting the Commonwealth to determine its implementation priorities from the Fourth Plan.
The discussion paper, Policy and Fourth Plan can be located at the following web address:
www.health.gov.au        and         www.mentalhealth.gov.au
You are invited to provide comments the NACMH Secretariat on the discussion paper via email to the following address:
NACMH@health.gov.au
Comments are required by 1 March 2010.
